Wonder, Happiness and Joy

The museum seeks to deliver its message of wonder, happiness and joy through 5 core areas of engagement: Art, Culture, Sustainability, Education and True Appreciation for each other (this last element we call ‘Wonderful Us’).

Art

Emerging Masters© is a ‘call out’ to all up-and-coming artists from the Museum of Wonder Happiness and Joy.


We are running an annual art fair, The Emerging Masters Art Fair©, in Istanbul showcasing and selling the works of the best new artists... potentially the next Picassos, Rembrandts, Chagalls, or Andy Warhols. 


The selected entrants get to:

  • Sell their works at the Emerging Masters’ Art Fair© 
  • Top 10 selected artists will be given the opportunity to sell their work with assistance from the Museum Gallery
  • Three selected artists each year will have the opportunity for a solo exhibition, promoted by the museum

Steps to entry summary:

  1. Send 3 low-resolution images of works you wish to submit as examples of your work.
  2. Send an outline of you (the artist) including a photo, summary of your background, your unique message to the world, achievements, and contact details.
  3. Confirm you have read and accept the terms and conditions (see above link).  

Please note this not a competition, but an opportunity for emerging artists to move to the next step in their progression with the Museum of Wonder Happiness and Joy hopefully giving a little helping hand.

Artists are invited to gather any time at The Museum of Wonder Happiness and Joy to share a Sketch Jamming© session, creating individual and collective works driven by the unique atmosphere of the café and associated spaces along with its eclectic clientele.

The Aesthetic Revival Movement© brings together a group of amazing artists whose work aims to inform the interior decoration of some of the most unique residences, offices, cafes, galleries and hotels in Turkey and beyond.


Within this movement is an ‘Art for Business’ component that aims to bring art into developments, offices and open public and private spaces. We have a range of wonderful creative individuals to advise those companies and individuals who wish to create something unique, special and timeless.


The movement brings a refreshing twist to interior design, creating really unique spaces based on the individual works and vision of the artists involved in collaboration with the Museum of Wonder Happiness and Joy.

Culture

The Turkish Culture Society© is based at the Museum of Wonder Happiness and Joy. The aim of the society is to promote the amazing depth of culture that Turkey has to offer, providing information on some extraordinary places to visit and organizing regular events and expeditions for its members.

We want to spread the word about Turkey’s amazing places from your first-hand experience, so please visit the Turkey Myth Buster© website and you can place recommendations on places to visit along with a great photo and a brief description of your experience.


By sharing amazing places that you have visited in Turkey you can help others get out there and join in the wonder. With a strong emphasis on culture, nature, food and fun as well as the sheer wonder of the setting (whether natural or man-made), this section of the site aims to offer readers ideas on where to go and what to do in Turkey via first-hand experience.


So that we can share the photo you send to this section of the site, it should be headed ‘Myth Buster Turkey’ and sent to info@turkeymythbuster.com.

Sustainability

Both in the refurbishment of the Museum of Wonder Happiness and Joy building (using existing fabric and/or reclaimed materials wherever we were able to and adopting environmentally friendly systems) and in our activities, services and messages, we strive towards a better, more sustainable planet, and try to ensure that our carbon footprint is as small as it can be.

Aligned with our Green Istanbul initiative we are trying to stop the decline of Istanbul’s bee population through our Istanbuzz© initiative, which seeks to reduce the use of blanket pesticides in residential compounds and bring beehives into this city to help maintain the diversity of plant life that we enjoy.

Green Istanbul (Yeşil Istanbul in Turkish) is an initiative by the Museum of Wonder Happiness and Joy to help promote and preserve the green spaces of Istanbul.


It is often said that Istanbul has no green spaces, and this is simply not true. The museum organizes walks and picnics to these places to introduce its guests to the joy and wonder of nature inside this historic city. Our aim is to start an awareness campaign to keep them clean and plastic free and to create new green spaces where people can live in harmony with their surroundings and to help subtly incorporate art into those spaces to blend with nature’s own canvas.

Education

We have a wonderful program for school children of all ages. The program includes access to the museum and gallery, interactive art initiatives, History of Istanbul sessions, tours of historic places in and around Balat and the Golden Horn, photography tours, music events, dance events, poetry events, and more.

Matt’s Place© is the private space of the founder and owner of The Museum of Wonder Happiness and Joy, based on the top floor of the museum building. Access is strictly by private invitation and is mostly for friends and supporters of the museum.


Stepping through the door takes you to a fantasy world where forward-looking entrepreneurs mingle with bohemian artists in a free-thinking libertarian setting…


If you are fortunate to be invited, be prepared to comment and share your thoughts as this is a forum for experimental thinking towards a better, more inclusive, more appreciative world.
